Madame Galen Trumpet Vine
The #1 Hummingbird Magnet: Madame Galen Trumpet Vine
Campsis x tagliabuana 'Madame Galen'
If you want hummingbirds to flock to your garden, Madame Galen Trumpet Vine is your plant. We know from growing this vine in our own gardens and watching how the hummingbirds go crazy over it. When Madame Galen is blooming, which is from mid-summer through fall, you could literally sit any day and watch hummingbirds visit and feed from the flowers from sunrise to sundown.
The beautiful, eyecatching, deep orange to salmon-red trumpet-shaped flowers of this spectacular, fast growing vine are borne in large clusters, forming at the ends of branches. Exceptionally fast-growing to 25 feet in height/length, makes Madame Galen the perfect choice for growing on overhead structures such as arbors and pergolas, along the tops of deck rails and fences, and up tall posts and poles that can support the length of the vine.
Madame Galen vine is tolerant of many soil types as long as they are fairly well-drained. The vine flowers heaviest in full sun, however will tolerate some shade in the morning or afternoon. This variety of trumpet vine (Campis) is more restrained and flowers much longer than the species: Campsis radicans.

Care and Maintenance
Fertilization - Feed this flowering vine in early spring with a well-balanced "nursery-type" fertilizer or organic plant food. If unsure as to how much fertilizer to apply, refer to instructions on product label.
Pruning - When given room to grow, Madame Galen Trumpet Vine does not require pruning. It can, however, be trained to grow over entryways, along a fence, or over an arbor and other structures where some pruning may be required to keep growth in bounds. Blooms on new growth, so early Spring pruning is best, and will not affect the Summer flowering. Vines should be grown on somewhat sturdy structures which will be able to support the rather heavy weight of the mature vines.
Pest and Disease Control - Madame Galen Trumpet Vine is not prone to serious disease or pest problems.
