The founders, twin brothers Brent and Brooks Wilson, began their careers in 1980 when they launched a lawn care company in the small town of Jackson, Georgia, south of Atlanta. They have worked side-by-side ever since.

Greenhouses at nursery By 1983, the love for plants and an insatiable desire to learn more about landscaping compelled the Wilson brothers to move the lawn care business to Marietta, Georgia, one of the most landscape-conscious areas in the state at that time. Over the next 5 years, their landscape company rapidly expanded into one of the most respected residential landscape design-build and maintenance firms in the north side Atlanta metro area. But, as is usual regarding the Wilson Bros, it wasn't long before they were looking for a bigger and better way to make the knowledge acquired from their experience in the landscape business available to more people.

So, in 1988, the Wilson bros began looking for a location to build and open a nursery and garden center. During their search, they stumbled upon an article in the Atlanta Journal newspaper titled: "The Hidden Gem of the Atlanta Metro Area". The article was about a small-but-growing town called McDonough that is located south of Atlanta.

Fruit trees at nurseryThe search for a location ended in the summer of 1988 when the Wilson brothers found and purchased the original 1-acre piece of property located on McGarity Road, 3 miles east of the city of McDonough - just behind what is now one of Georgia's top-ranked golf course communities: Lake Dow; the home of Georgia National Golf Course. Construction of the nursery began immediately after purchase of the property and the doors to Wilson Bros. Nursery were opened for business in October of 1988.

Thanks to the help and hard work from its family (the brothers mother and father worked at the nursery for the first few years), its highly-skilled staff members, and its customers/friends, the brothers have watched the nursery grow ever since. In 1999, the youngest Wilson brother, Brian Wilson, joined the Wilson Bros team and presently runs the landscape design-build division of the company: Wilson Bros Landscape

The nursery and garden center has currently grown to about 5 acres in size and stocks one of the widest selections of plants and trees in the state of Georgia. An extensive line of other landscape and garden supplies is also available.
